FSSC 22000 v 4.1 to 5.

From January 2020 is up and running the new version 5 of the standard FSSC 22000. The FDA will begin checks on companies in relation to the new standard in March 2020.

Update audits to FSSC 22000 v5 scheme requirements  must be done between January 1 and Decembrer 31  2020. All the companies that have implemented the scheme will have to adapt to the new version for the audits by 2020.

The new version includes new requirements and the ISO 22000: 2018 standard implementation.

FSSC V5: ADVANTAGES

It’s a system norm

So is less rigid in its construction and capable of adapting  to the company needs.  It also remains a GFSI standard (guarantee of high level and excellence).

Less interpretation issues

Version 5 extends risk analysis to all organization processes (ISO 22000: 18). That motivates the choices made, together with a careful process analysis. Conflicts of interpretation are significantly reduced.

Greater clarity

FSSC 22000 v5 clearly defines the control measures  to manage different kinds of hazards (PRP, PRPO, CCP).

Food Safety Plans Integration

Is the best comparing standard with FSMA – FDA regulation. It allows Food Safety Plans easy integration. This avoids duplicates of food safety systems.

Companies that don’t make products for end consumers can also certify

For example  semi-finished products or raw materials manufacturers can also show the value of their system with a GFSI certification, so their customers can reduce qualification costs.

Also valid for packaging / logistics / catering

It’s also valid for packaging material production, logistics, catering, animal food production and primary production.
